The second round of bidding for April saw Certificate of Entitlement (COE) premiums rising across the board for categories. This is the third consecutive bidding session that has seen premiums across all private car categories rising.
The higher premiums this session could be the result of renewed interest amongst the public for new cars following The Cars Expo, which saw a total of 21 authorised distributors here participating, most of which were offering enticing offers to net sales. The rise in new car purchases from the event should not be overstated, however, as the total number of bids received this session across categories A and B is lower than what was witnessed in the last three months. Not only has Cat B and E seen only a small percentage increase in premiums compared to the last bidding session, the rise in premiums for Cat A could also be attributed to the spate of new Cat A eligible models that have recently been launched here in Singapore, the most recent of which now includes the Volkswagen Tiguan.
