After presenting the Topolino compact urban electric vehicle in July 2023, Fiat is once again turning the cuteness factor up all the way to 11 with the unveil of this one-off 500e Gelateria Edition.
Based on the 500e Convertible and built for the U.K., this one-off car is designed to be an alternative to the polluting diesel-powered ice-cream vans that used to be a staple of Britain's streets.
The bespoke car is said to be able to serve approximately 300 people a day, and does so with a completely overhauled cabin that has had its passenger and rear seats removed, so as to allow the server to move within the car and serve gelato to customers from its rear.
These will come from trays that are mounted above a bespoke cabinet containing battery-powered freezers that can store up to 30-litres of frozen treats. The car also comes with added storage from accessories including cones, tubs, and spoons.
Deck chairs are also stored within the car, so customers enjoying their gelato can do so in total comfort.
On the outside, the Fiat 500e Gelateria Edition comes in a unique light blue and cream two-tone finish that is said to evoke the spirit of a classic Italian gelateria of the 1950s. This colour scheme is extended to the interior as well as the wheels of the car. The car is additionally finished with a unique Gelateria badge in bronze, denoting it as a one-off concept.
A retro-style canopy has also been fitted to the car, which can be raised once the fabric roof is folded to provide shade to the onboard display of gelato flavours and server beneath. For those that still might miss this stunning exterior, the Fiat 500e Gelateria Edition will additionally play its own jingle, which Fiat states has been inspired by the operatic sounds of Italy.
Finally, Fiat has created a new gelato flavour inspired by Bicerin - a traditional hot drink native to the Italian city of Turin and the birthplace of Fiat itself. The flavour is said to consist of coffee, chocolate and oat milk ingredients.
