Volkswagen has revealed more details of the drivetrains that are being offered for the Passat after having revealed the new Passat Variant in September of 2023.
These Volkswagen Passat will be offered in a variety of equipment lines including 'Business', 'Elegance' and 'R-Line'. Each of the new drive variants will be linked to specific equipment lines.
Two Passat eHybrid models will be available, equipped with what is said to be one of the world's most modern plug-in hybrid systems.
These variants will both make use of a 113bhp electric motor which is combined with either a 148bhp or a 174bhp turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol engine. Both these variants also make use of a 19.7kWh battery, allowing them to post an electric-only range of 120km. This battery be charged at 11kW at an alternating current charger, and up to 50kW when plugged into a direct current charger.
When equipped with the 147bhp engine, the Passat eHybrid will deliver a system total of 201bhp alongside 350Nm of torque. Customers will be able to opt for this drivetrain with the 'Business' and 'Elegance' equipment lines. When paired to the more powerful 174bhp engine, the Passat eHybrid will deliver a total system output of 268bhp and peak torque of 400Nm. This drivetrain will be available with the 'Elegance' and 'R-Line' equipment lines.
Volkswagen will also now be offering two new diesel options for the Passat, the first delivers an output of 120bhp, while the second delivers a total of 190bhp and comes equipped with all-wheel drive as standard.
These new variants join the two Passat eTSI variants that are already available for the Passat. These come equipped with 48V mild hybrid technology and are available for the base Passat as well as the 'Business' equipment line.
