Peugeot has unveiled the new E-5008.
The car is based on Stellantis' STLA Medium platform, which allows it to carry a sizeable 98kWh battery which gives the electric SUV a 660km range. This battery will be manufactured at Peugeot's gigafactory in Douvrin, France, and benefits from the firm's new Allure Care programme which comes with a warranty of up to eight years or 160,000km, a period described by Peugeot as the longest of any European brand.
Customers will be able to opt for their E-5008 with a total of three drivetrains. The range starts with a 207bhp option which comes paired with a 73kWh battery pack, as well as a 227bhp 'long range' option that comes paired with the larger 98kWh battery. A dual-motor all-wheel drive 315bhp option paired with the larger battery will also be offered.
On the exterior, the Peugeot sports a sophisticated front grille that comes flanked by head lights that sport Pixel LED technology as standard. These are able to automatically adapts to prevailing traffic conditions to maintaining optimal lighting without disturbing other road users.
As we saw on the Peugeot E-2008, the E-5008 also features three vertical light elements or 'claws' at each corner of its front bumper alongside a set of geometric rims just as we saw on the Peugeot 408. These will measure in at either 19 or 20-inches on the E-5008, and sport the new Peugeot emblem in their centre.
Step inside the Peugeot E-5008 and you'll find the firm's new Panoramic i-Cockpit system, which utilises a 21-inch panel which appears to float above the car's dashboard. This widescreen display is slightly curved towards the driver, and comes with its own ambient lighting system which emits light out through its lower section to further accentuate its floating appearance.
The electric SUV will also offer a voice recognition system that offers access to the car's infotainment and air-conditioning settings. Also available for the car is integrated AI chatbot ChatGPT.
The new Peugeot E-5008 is set to go on sale in Europe in the third quarter of 2024.
