Just as everyone has gotten settled into the daily grind of the new year, Sgcarmart spiced things up with the 14th run of its Car of the Year (COTY).
Unlike past years, this year's edition of the annual awards ceremony was held over two days (26 and 27 January) at Mandarin Oriental, Singapore. What also made this year's COTY special, was the fact that it was held as a gala dinner.
Close to 90 guests from 23 car brands and authorised dealers celebrated each other's wins over an 8-course dinner, drinks, and good cheer on the first night. The fun and excitement were amplified by a funky photo booth, stunning stage performance, online contest, and lucky draw with many coveted prizes to be snagged.
The competition this year was as intense or even more so than before. A total of 23,000 votes were received across 26 categories, of which 76 cars fought to emerge victorious.
Amongst the 30 deserving recipients that bagged accolades in their respective categories was the Hyundai Ioniq 5, which was named the Sgcarmart 2023 Car of the Year. This is the highest form of recognition that can be given to a car in Sgcarmart's suite of annual awards.
Opel showed its prowess with its facelifted Grandland, which clinched the Most Improved Car of the Year; BYD proved its brand's booming popularity with the Atto 3 winning the SGCM Top Viewed Model.
But one car unanimously stole the hearts of the Sgcarmart Editorial Team: The BMW 3 Series Touring. Congratulations to all winners of the Sgcarmart Car of the Year 2023!
