On the strength of significantly higher vehicle deliveries, Skoda achieved a record revenue of €26.5 billion in 2023, increasing its profit by 182.3%.
As reported previously, Skoda's total global delivery count of 866,800 vehicles in 2023 represented an 18.5% increase compared to the previous year. Notably, this was driven by its electrification efforts tool; the Enyaq recorded the highest percentage growth - of 52.1% - among all of Skoda's models.
With its success, Skoda states that the Enyaq is now one of the top-selling battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) in multiple European markets.
Skoda also highlighted its modernised lineup as the driving force behind its financial achievements. With the lineup, customers have gained access to a wider range of not just models, but powertrains too. The Czech carmaker now offers pure BEVs, plug-in hybrid, and mild hybrid drivetrains, alongside combustion engines.
The past year also saw Skoda refreshing its model portfolio. Updated iterations of the Scala and Kamiq landed in 2023, joining the latest all-new generations of the Kodiaq and Superb, Skoda's flagship models.
Greater synergies within the larger Volkswagen Group were also created last year, with production of the Superb relocated to Volkswagen brand's plant in Bratislava. The Superb is now produced there alongside the Volkswagen Passat.
Additionally, Skoda entered both the Vietnamese and Kazakh markets in 2023, evincing the steady continuation of its internationalisation strategy. Skoda states that to ensure long-term success, it plans to consistently expand its global footprint into dynamic market regions.
Over the past year, Skoda also celebrated its return to Kazakhstan, and sells the Kodiaq, Kamiq, Karoq and Octavia to the market, all of which will be locally assembled in Kostanay.
Moving forward, Skoda states that it remains determined to its plans in digitalisation and electrification. The company plans to invest billions of euros in e-mobility in upcoming years.
The establishment of Skoda X, a Prague-based innovation hub, acts as an indication of Skoda's decisive step towards rapid development and integration of customer-focused innovations into Skoda vehicles.
Part of the innovations includes the inclusion of ChatGPT in its vehicles. Digital services such as Pay to Park, Pay to Fuel and Digital Certificate, to name a few, have been incorporated thus far.
Simultaneously, Skoda states that it remains committed to digitalisation. The company plans to invest in digital services, connectivity features, and advanced machine learning technologies over the coming years.
Looking into the future, the much anticipated world premiere of the Skoda Elroq is set to happen later this year. The premiere of the Elroq is set to kick Skoda's electric model campaign - which includes six electric models for the coming years - into motion, while broadening its electric portfolio into the compact SUV segment.
The Elroq does more than just expanding Skoda's EV range, though. The car will also be Skoda's first electric model to embody the Modern Solid design, which brings in fresh elements to the exterior design of the EV range too.
More recently, Skoda has teased yet another upcoming EV - the Epiq - which provides a glimpse into Skoda's approach towards entry-level BEVs.
It is anticipated that the launch of the Epiq, set for 2025, will open up the strategically important segment of electric sub-compact SUVs.
