What Others Think of The Nominees

BYD Seal was one of my options, but the dealer lowballed me on the trade-in value ($10k lesser than other brands); I eventually ended up with a Polestar 2.

The BYD Seal EV delivers an impressive blend of comfort, style, and performance. The ride is smooth and quiet, and the instant torque makes accelerating feel effortless. With a range of up to 570 km on a full charge, it's ideal for daily commutes or longer trips without worrying about frequent recharging. Inside, the car feels spacious and modern, with an intuitive touchscreen for controlling navigation, media, and climate settings. The Seal EV handles well in both city and highway driving, with responsive steering and a comfortable suspension that easily handles rougher roads. Plus, it’S packed with safety features like lane assist and adaptive cruise control, making driving feel safer and less stressful.Overall, the BYD Seal EV is a fantastic choice for anyone looking to go electric. It’S quick, stylish, and loaded with tech, all while offering a smooth, enjoyable driving experience.

Only downside is the interior design isn't my taste but overall quality is superior to competitors in the class. While looking like a sports sedan, it is actually quite comfortable and not jarring like model 3. Unfortunately, like all EVs, the range is not realistic and is only 65% of advertised, pretty much the same as competitors.

Overall, my assessment is that I am getting more premium car experience in a better price. Car interior has better design than the near rivals in its class. Comfortable premium sedan feel. The software/UI could use a little enhancement to make it more intuitive for the driver. Likewise the dashboard could have metrics that are more useable for the drivers.

Hyundai Ioniq 6 Electric
Officially, the retrofuturistic Ioniq 6 isn't just any fastback sedan; it's a streamliner. Beyond turning heads, its slippery body is built for aerodynamics too, giving it a low drag coefficient of 0.22Cd. As a bespoke EV, expect the sort of uncluttered cabin ICE-cars would struggle to achieve. The Ioniq 6 is fully-loaded with driver assistance systems too, while its 321bhp and 605Nm of torque are more than plentiful. If this is the future, our eyes are peeled.

Price: $212,888 - $279,888
Distributor: Komoco Motors
Polestar 2 Electric
The refreshed Polestar 2 now wears a SmartZone 'grille', responsible for its assistance systems. The other enhancements go even deeper: More range from a larger battery, and more power from new motors, making this the most powerful Polestar 2 yet. Inside, the vegan interior still satisfies with fabric surfaces and cove lighting, while its screen-heavy dashboard is easy on the eyes, yet also easy to use. This is Scandinavian minimalism that continues to delight.

Price: $230,000 - $325,000
Distributor: Wearnes Automotive

Oh, and it sure is a looker as well!
