Problem:

Typical in almost all automotive cooling systems is the eventual formation of rust, scale, or other corrosion by-products. Even the slightest build-up of these materials on heat transfer surfaces can drastically affect the engine’s ability to shed heat and thus decrease the overall effectiveness of the cooling system. Rust, oil, and scale build-up will also restrict the flow of coolant through the system, causing overheating and possible engine damage.

Solution:

BG Universal Cooling System Cleaner provides superior removal of scale, oil, and harsh mineral deposits that form in the coolant system. When used as directed, BG Universal Cooling System Cleaner will remove tough residues that are caused by oil fouling, coolant inhibitor breakdown and glycol oxidation residues. BG Universal Cooling System Cleaner will also help solubilize and remove corrosion products, such as rust, that can hasten inhibitor depletion and increase corrosion of metal surfaces. The cooling system does not require neutralization after using BG Universal Cooling System Cleaner.

Usage:

Add one 12-ounce (355 mL) or 8-ounce (237 mL) bottle of BG Universal Cooling System Cleaner to the cooling system. Operate the engine until it reaches normal operating temperature. Continue operating the engine for 10 to 30 minutes, keeping the engine at normal operating temperature with heater controls at their highest position. Drain the system and flush with clean water until the system is free of rust. Refill with proper antifreeze and water concentration. BG Universal Cooling System Cleaner can be used in either gasoline or diesel engines. It contains no harsh chemicals and is harmless to all cooling system components. Do not leave the system.

NOTE: 

For an added dose of superior rust and corrosion protection, add 12 ounces (355 mL) BG Universal Super Cool–, Part No. 546, to the system. The addition of BG Universal Super Cool® is highly recommended as it helps compensate for any untreated coolant left in the system after the service is performed.
